Fall Foundation Program

FALL FOUNDATION PROGRAM

Pre-season is the ideal time to focus on developing the key elements of movement economy in swimming, biking and running. The Foundation Program is designed for athletes who already have some triathlon training experience and want to improve their performance. It is not an introductory program. You should be able to run 4 miles, bike 2 hours and swim ½ mile freestyle. Learn to run with light and fast feet, and to manage your effort level while running up or down hills. Train to handle your bike like a pro. Learn how to change a flat in under 4 minutes! How fast you swim/bike and run is secondary to how you do them in this program. Finesse now is fast later! FOUNDATION PROGRAM: TRI SWIM ONLY
2021 updates

During Covid we implemented SWIMsims which are coach led virtual dry land swimming sessions brought to you live via Zoom using stretch cords which the athlete can purchase through various online sources for about $40 (not included in program fees).

There are generally 4 to 10 athletes per session, guaranteeing a lot of individual feedback on how to improve your form. The personal and individual visual aspect of it has allowed athletes to improve so much that by popular demand, we are implementing them into all future TriLife programs despite pools gradual reopening in the Covid/post-Covid era. Fill out the questionnaire on this site to leave an inquiry for this and other programs, and or to request guest attendance for any of our sessions.

As soon as pools start allowing group sessions and rentals, we will add our in-person sessions back into the program as well, with updates to be provided at that time. As of October 2021, pools are generally not allowing group rentals.


Do you sometimes get that “sinking” feeling? Does your competition leave you behind in the water? If your race goals include becoming a stronger and more efficient swimmer, join TriLife this Fall for our Tri Swim Skills Intensive.

This program is designed for swimmers who want to improve their performance through skills enhancement. It is not an introductory program. We are not teaching you how to swim. We are teaching you how to swim better! You must be currently able to swim 0.5M freestyle continuously.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

You will receive individualized form feedback from our expert coaching staff at the coached sessions every other Saturday. We believe in the power of visual learning, so you will see the drills demonstrated before you put them into practice. You will also  be videotaped so you can see what you are doing, and how to improve. It is expected that you practice skills development several times between the coached sessions to maximize your development of a more efficient stroke.

Each session will focus on:

  • getting a better feel for water from the catch through finish of the pull phase.
  • the use of kick and hips for lift and power production. It’s the missing link for most freestyle swimmers.
  • streamlining and reduction of drag.
  • increased power production without increased aerobic demand.

TriLife 70.3/Short Course Team
